The language of making
A diary of making
Day 5.
Not to sound like Joseph and his coat of many colours, but today I had an image in my mind. Colourful and striking, like an assorted bag of boiled sweets. I started my practice, choosing fabrics based on their colours, laying them together in combinations chosen by my eye.
A patchwork of colours that as a whole create a textured effect.
How can I explain my choices of colour? Is it the way they respond to the shifting light, to each other?
What is making the decisions, is it my personal preferences, my personal taste, like choosing chocolates from a box.
Is there choice or am I predisposed to colour preferences, unconsciously following a formula I combined years ago.
I am not aware I am following any rules, the choices seem effortless, natural and clear to me.
Unlike Joseph, my favourite colour is grey.
